St Augustine’s met St Augustine’s in the finals

In the annals of inter school football tournaments such a final game will not be found very often.

At the highest level ( Under 17) of the Virendra Pandya Inter School Tournament, our coach Sir Murugan, fielded two teams- St Augustine’s A team and St Augustine’s B team. The competition was composed of the following teams- Vidya Vikasini ICSE,Vidya Vikasini SSC,St Anne’s School ( A and B teams) St Thomas Mira road,Nazareth (A and B teams), Experts School,Siddhivinayak School,Notre Dame ( A,B and C teams),Taramai Vartak School,Convent of Jesus and Mary,Gurukul School,JB Ludhani School,St Peter’s School and St Francis (Naigaon)

Our A and B teams found themselves pitted against this array of formidable foes.

You will be glad to know that both teams played most valiantly and vanquished all opposition to enter the semi finals. There Augustine’s A team faced Convent of Jesus and Mary and Augustine’s B team faced Experts School from Virar. The A team won 4-1 and the B team won 2-1.

And so we had the unusual circumstance of both our teams facing each other in the finals of the tournament.Sir Murugan,in consultation with the organisers, decided that there was no need for the final to be played as both teams were from the same school. The A team were declared winners on account of having the better goal difference and there was much rejoicing and celebration. Both teams were very happy that St Augustine’s school won the tournament .

Congratulations to Sir Murugan and our boys.May they go on to win many more games this year.
