

Cristiano D’souza participated in the National Finals of the FC Bayern Youth Cup which was held recently at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (PJN) Stadium, Fatorda,Goa.
The three-day event organised by BigHit gave U-15 players a chance to showcase their footballing talent thereby enabling scouts to choose best 10 players in the country who would eventually qualify to play for the 10th World Youth Final 2023 in Munich.
240 Players from 8 states participated.
The World Final takes place annually in the Allianz Arena on the day following the last home match of FC Bayern.The selected National Teams arrive a few days in advance to take part in a five-day training camp on Säbener Strasse and train with FC Bayern youth coaches. In addition, players from all over the world will receive a comprehensive social program during their stay in Munich. They will meet FC Bayern 1st team players, visit the city of Munich, visit FC Bayern’s last home match and finally take part in the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Final on the grass of the world-famous Allianz Arena.
“The tournament is an opportunity to first of all give them an opportunity to prove themselves here in India and the chosen ones will go to Europe. It is a once in life opportunity to experience European football first hand, the training conditions, the staff we have over there and ultimately that they improve themselves.” (Bayern Munich Chief Scout Hans Pflügler)
The FC Bayern International Manager, Francisco Quinones, said the competition is simultaneously held in seven countries across the world. “After national championship, a pool of ten best players are selected to represent India at the World Youth Tournament in Germany.This year we are going to have teams from USA, Mexico, Argentina, Morocco (is a new addition to the tournament), South Africa and Team Germany. We are going to have Team China this year and then of course, Nigeria,” he added.
