The teacher who composed our School Anthem

“Let’s raise the banner of St Augustine’s. Let it flutter there on high..”

The iconic and very familiar lyrics to our beautiful school anthem were composed by Mrs Lourdes D’silva in the academic year 2007 -2008. The lyrics were written by her and the tune was first played on the guitar by Jeffrey D’silva ,a student of the school.

Mrs Christina Pereira ( Ms Tina) was school principal at the time and Br Cedric Andrade was the school manager. They gave their approval to the newly created anthem and it was sung for the first time at sports day in the year 2007. Since then it has been sung regularly and with great fervour at school functions and school assemblies.Thank you Mrs Lourdes for the wonderful anthem.

We have here an interview of Mrs Lourdes done by Murphy House Sports Captain Kielan Naik. It was done sometime in the year 2022. Mrs Lourdes shares her memories of her teaching days in St Augustine’s.
