We have some really brilliant football talent in SAS this year. Three of the players from our under 14 team were called for the selection procedure for the Maharashtra Under 14 football team. This was because they played very well at the Division level games that our Under 14 team played at St Agnel’s Multipurpose School,Vashi.

Our rising stars Yash Mali,Aaron Surti and Yahya Moideen were extremely thrilled to get the opportunity to be part of the try outs for the state team. Each of them has written a summary of their experience below.
YASH MALI : I went for the Maharashtra U 14 football selection feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. As arrived at the trial location ,I took a deep breath and focused on my game.I warmed up,noticing the other talented young players around me,all vying for a spot on the team.

The coaches were looking for players with exceptional skills, teamwork and dedication.I visualized these goals, determined to showcase my technical skills, demonstrate tactical awareness and prove my physical fitness.
I reminded myself to stay calm under pressure, communicate effectively with my team mates and give it my all. I left everything on the field and now I await the results, hoping to have made the cut to represent Maharashtra in the Sub Junior Football Championship.

AARON SURTI:Hi ,I’m Aaron Chetan Surti from class 8B and I would like to share my experience of the football selection that I went for in Fr Agnel’s school in Vashi.I was fortunate to have two of my classmates, Yahya from 9B and Yash from 8C, join me. Yash’s mother kindly accompanied us, ensuring we had a safe trip to Vashi and I am very grateful for her support. She arranged a car for our journey which took about 3 hours. The excitement built up as we made our way to the ground and we arrived around11 am. After reaching we waited for instructions from the selection committee.
There were 18 students from various schools participating in the selections. The coach divided us into two teams for a ten minute match against each other. After that we were paired up- with one player as the attacker and the other as defender. This was to assess our skills and shooting power. The attacker had to dribble past the defender and score. Then our shooting strength was tested. Each of us was instructed to take a single touch on the ball and then shoot as hard as we could towards the goal.

After the selection process concluded we returned home by train. It was quite crowded because it was rush hour.It was an incredible experience and we are all eagerly waiting for the results.Thank you for letting me share my journey. ( Aaron Surti -Class 8B)
YAHYA MOIDEEN:I am thankful to God that he gave me such nice teachers, brothers and parents.Without their support I would not have reached till here.It was a great opportunity and I don’t want to lose it.I prayed a lot to God that I should be able to go and also reach safely. Our sir and Br Vinay gave us best wishes and said “all the best” and that “everyone doesn’t get this opportunity” They also said that it would be good if we got selected but not to be disappointed if we didn’t get selected. We went by car and I was very excited. We submitted our papers and then we had breakfast. We spent some time enjoying walking around Fr Agnel’s School.

Our match started at 1 pm and ended by about 2:30 pm.It was very nice to see that all were trying to give their best. If we get selected then we will be very happy. If not I hope God will give me another chance.Thank you for all your support from Br Anish,Sir Barry and all other teachers. (Yahya Moideen – Class 9B)
Congratulations to our rising stars and we wish them all the best.
