Football frenzy returned to SAS after a long weary wait. The 2024 version of the annual inter class Correia Memorial Football Tournament was much delayed due to the rain and field conditions. The good news is that it kicked off at last today on the 15th day of November 2024.

As in previous years,Leonardo DiCaprio was too busy to make a personal visit but he sent his usual good wishes to all the teams.
THE TEAMS.

OPENING CEREMONY
The opening ceremony was a bit low key due to the absence of an audience. The audience was absent because today is a school holiday and so only the players turned up.The ceremony was held on the field instead of the hall. The 8 teams assembled near the stage. As the sun rose in the east bringing the light and gladness of a new day our School Captain Ethan Gonsalves led the teams in the oath of good sportmanship. And shortly after that, without much further ado,the much awaited games got underway.
10D v/s 9B
9B created a bit of history by becoming the first team in the annals of the Correia Memorial Tournament to play a game without their team shirts. This is because both teams turned up for their opening game wearing white shirts. 10 D were allowed to retain their shirts and 9B had to manage without. Apart from losing their shirts they also lost the game 4-0. They played pretty well but 10D was just too strong for them. Ethan and Ronil scored a brace each and Ethan was declared the Man of the Match.
10A v/s 10B
Class 10 A took on 10B in the game on the other field. The teams were more evenly matched in this game. While both teams had good attacking players it was the defence that let 10B down.Twice.
They lost 2-0,Jason and Omkar being the goal scorers for 10A. Jason was declared Man of the Match.
10C v/s 9C
There is a long standing tradition in the Correia Memorial Tournament that class 9C always tries its best to lose really badly. You will be glad to know that this current 9C was able to uphold the ancient tradition very well. They lost their opening game 6-0 to class 10C.
Kenil and Affan scored 2 each and Masood and Nathaniel scored the remaining two. Kenil Patel was declared Man of the Match.
9A v/s 9D
The 9A v/s 9D game was unable to produce a winner. Both sets of players ran up and down and round and round and kicked the ball here and there. But neither team was able to score. Hence the game ended at 0-0 . Ashriel of class 9D was declared Man of the Match. (Despite his dimunitive size he proved to be a fearless player more than willing to take on players more than twice his size. Not only that.He also got the better of them many times.)Well done Ashriel.
The next round of games will be played tomorrow so it really does not give the players much time for rest and recuperation. They will have to be back tomorrow at the crack of dawn to battle it out once again. Well done all of you.Get some rest.
