Correia Memorial 2024 gets its first Hat Trick

Kenil Patel of 10C became the first player to score a hat trick in Correia Memorial 2024. He joins the list of legendary players of the past such as Silas Chavan and Grenville Monteiro who also scored hat tricks in their day.

10C are the highest scoring team in the tournament so far. After winning 6-0 against 9C yesterday they went and won 4-0 against 9A today. Kenil actually is more than a hat trick hero. He scored all the four goals of the game. So he’s making a legend of his own.

At the end of day 2 this is what the two pools look like. 10C lead in Pool A . A draw or a win in the last league game will take them through to the semi finals.Plus they have an awe inspiring goal difference of 10. Class 9D have to beat 10C in their last game if they are to go through and that’s a tall order. If 9C and 9A play out a draw in their final game -the second semi finalist from this pool will depend on the goal difference.

In Pool B things are less complicated. Class 10 D are in the lead and also just need a draw or a win in their last game to go through to the semis. And they have a goal difference of 5 at the moment. 9B or 10A will be the other semifinalist if they win their last game.10A has a better chance if it comes down to goal difference.

Photographs from the day.

10D v/s 10A

It was a hard fought game which 10 D won narrowly by a margin of just one goal scored late in the second half of the game.

9B v/s 10B

10B conceded a goal in the first half. A determined effort by them saw them get a hard earned equaliser in the second half. However class 9B proved to be the more determined class in the end. They somehow managed to score one more goal in the second half and then defended that slender lead with doughty, dauntless, stoud hearted resolution, right until the bitter end.

9D v/s 9C

Class 9C,after that 6-0 hammering yesterday, were determined to prove that they were no pushovers. And so they were able to hold 9D to a 1-1 draw . Class 9D had the lion’s share of ball possession but were not able to convert that into another goal. They were also hampered by the absence of their star player Joshua Mendonca who disappeared mysteriously was unfortunately not able to play today because of an ankle injury he picked up in the first game.

10C v/s 9A

9A were beaten 4-0 by class 10C who are doing really well in the tournament so far.

The last round of league games will take place on the 18th and 19th of November. All the best again to all the players.
