Corriea 2024- Class 9C make it to the semis

Class 9A,9C and 9D each had to win their last game if they were to go through to the semi finals. Class 9D were faced with the formidable task of beating the unbeaten class 10C .Class 9C had the relatively easier job of beating Class 9A (or vice versa.)

10C v/s 9D

Class 9D unfortunately didn’t make it but can take consolation from the fact that they got beaten by Class 10C by the smallest margin. In previous games 10C beat 9C 6-0 and then beat 9A 4-0. So to only lose 2-0 goes to show that 9D were made of sterner stuff. They actually had greater ball possesion in the first half. The two goals they conceded were both off set pieces..Both goals came from corner kicks where they they did not have anyone to counter the height and heading skills of Kenil Patel. ( Kenil seems to have the Golden Boot Trophy in the bag. He has scored 8 goals in the tournament so far)

Highlights of that hard fought game.( to the tune of Ricky Martin’s 1998 World Cup song “Do you really want it”)

9A v/s 9C

On the other field 9C and 9A were fairly evenly balanced.Whichever team won would go to the semifinals. The good news for 9C is that Ozil Silveira broke the deadlock and scored the game winning goal late in the second half. The bad news is that he picked up two yellow cards after that for time wasting and some other assorted fouls. Ozil Silveira now has achieved the dubious distinction of becoming the first player in the history of the tournament to get a red card.

Highlights of that famous victory..

The dates for the semifinal games have not yet been declared so everyone can get a bit of rest after all that excitement.
