A brief record of the very commendable performance of our U16 Cricket team at the Vasai Colts Inter School Cricket Tournament 2025. Akshaj Raj and Shaurya Pitva were asked to provided us with a summary of their memories of the memorable run our school team had.This is what they came up with.
Our first match was against New English High School.They won the toss,batted first and set us a target of 66 runs. Our best bowler was Aakash (3 wickets) followed by Ajay (2 wickets) We chased down the score in 10 overs. Aakash Tripathi was declared Man of the Match.
In our second game we played Carmelite High School. We set them a score of 257 runs with Akshaj (93runs) being the top scorer of our team.They were no match for us and we bowled them out for just 50 runs. Akshaj Rai was declared the Man of the Match.
We then played Infant Jesus school for our next game.It was a walk in the park.We bowled them out for an all time low score of 49 runs and chased down the total in just 6 overs. Shaurya Pitva was given the Man of the Match award for a tight bowling spell that gave him a 5 wicket haul.
Our next game was against Narsinh Govindrao Vartak School and after batting first they set us a score of 103 runs.We chased down the target in 18 overs. Smith Tandel was declared Man of the Match for taking 4 wickets in the game.
And thus we reached the finals where we came up against Convent of Jesus and Mary – Naigaon.
They batted first and put up a huge total of 234 runs on the board.This time the pressure really got to us and we did not succeed in our run chase.The asking rate kept climbing and our wickets kept falling and finally we fell short by 30 runs in the allotted 20 overs.Smith top scored with 48 runs for us. We were very sad that we could not win the finals .Thanks to Sir Brice for being with us at all the games and guiding us throughout the tournament.Next year we will try harder.
