SAS past student selected to play for Chennaiyin FC

All staff and students of St Augustine’s were very happy to get the news that Melroy Assisi (SSC 2014) was recently selected to play for Chenniyin FC for the upcoming ISL season.

It’s a dream come true for all the extremely football loving students of our school.It makes all of them remember their football playing days in school that have been stopped for more than a year now.(No one has been able to play football on the school field since March 2020 due to Covid 19 restrictions and that is such a big loss.)

Here is a short write up about Melroy’s football journey from the school team to the ISL – sent in by his proud father.

Melroy started playing football at the age of 10.He played for St Augustine’s High School at the district level ,DSO,Subroto Mukherjee cup ,Division and at state lavel. He also played for the Maharashtra state under 15 team when he was in the the 9th standard in the year 2012/13. He always got support from the principal Tina madam ,Robert sir,Sir Barry,the school management, coaches Dey sir ,Rudolf sir ,Murugan sir.He was also supported by teachers Shirley madam,Lourdes madam,Wilfa teacher and all the peons.
He later played for Thomas Baptista College and for Thakur college (Mumbai University) .With his all hard work his dreams have come true by getting selected to play in the ISL for Chennaiyin FC.
