Many students who attend Convent of Jesus and Mary,Naigaon live on Panju Island. They surely belong to a very unique group of students in the world.They start their daily journey from home to school on a boat!!
Sr Flavia,principal of the school,very kindly organised a trip to the island for us on the 12th of December.
The family of Dhriti Megha,a class 8 student of the school,gave us a warm welcome. We had a refreshing cup of coffee at their house,were each given gifts,and then taken for a guided tour of the island.
People on the island live quite happily without some of things we consider very important- such as good cell phone connectivity and online shopping .They also harvest their own salt from the salt pans on the island.
