Whiting House has never managed to win.All the other houses have won either the Sports Shield or the Overall Shield since the houses were named in 2018. Murphy House has won 4 times – the sports shield twice and the overall shield twice.Gomes House has 2 Sports victories in its history and Keane House has won the overall shield once. Whiting House is the only house that is still in seach for that moment of glory.
And they came really close this time. They started the day 65 points behind Murphy House and came agonisingly close to winning. They matched Murphy house in event after event but still sadly fell short of victory by a mere 60 points at the end.It was a very close contest. One of the best we have seen in school.
Whiting House Captain Jins Mampilly had the following to say to his team mates.
Hello, my dear Whiting buddies,keep on fighting – that’s our battle cry. I know it’s hard to stay positive after just falling short by just 60 points but it’s important to remember that one loss doesn’t define us. You must regroup, refocus, and come back stronger next year . Support each other and give it your all in the next year.
I know we’re all disappointed, but I want you to know that I’m proud of each and every one of you. We played hard, and did our best. In allthe sports events we did fabulously well. Shubham, Rudhra, Nigel were our inspiration on the field .But not only them,we had so many Whiting heroes.The cheering and the roars of encouragement from Whiting House supporters gave us so much self belief. The Tug of War was the only event that Whiting House couldn’t qualify jn. So, we need to focus on that as one area we need improvement and work together as a team. Determination is the key to success.
Losing is a part of any game, and we must learn from our mistakes. If we never lose, then we will not be able to know about our weaknesses as well as our strengths. We should be proud of ourselves for winning the Shield for the best disciplined House.Where there is discipline there is orderliness, efficiency, punctuality, organization and success.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards the brothers, teachers and students for giving me the responsibilities of Whiting House Captain for the academic session 2023-2024.I am proud to be a member of this team.
Congratulations to Keane House for winning the Marching Shield and congratulations to Murphy House for becoming the house that has won the maximum number of times. This 5th victory of theirs comes in the centenary year of Br Murphy and so he must be quite pleased with how the house named after him is doing.
