Correia Memorial 2026

The beloved and much awaited annual inter class football tournament got off to a very early start this year. The 2024 and 2025 versions started late in the year.Those with terribly good memories will remember that the 2024 tournament started on the 15th of November 2024 and the 2025 version started even later- on the 13th of December 2025

So this year students got a pleasant surprise when they heard that the 2026 version was going to start on the 19th of June. The opening ceremony was traditional – much like the early ceremonies when the tournament first started in 2018.

Some of the teams didn’t get time to get their new jerseys ready and so had to attend the ceremony dressed in bits and pieces of old kits.

9B, 10B ,10C, and 10D however were dressed for the occasion.

Aaron Surti was chosen to lead the assembled team members in the oath of good sportsmanship and without further waste of time the tournament got underway.

Action from Day #1

Some sad faces in 9A as they lost their opening game 3-0. Happy faces in 9D though.On the other field 9B and 9C created some kind of a new record by scoring a goal each in the first 5 minutes of the game. After that 9B,the better dressed team, went on to win the game 2-1 .

Action from Day #2

10A got off to a pretty dismal start by losing their first game 5-1. 10B,the winners, got off to a dream start by beating 10A 5-1. We also got our first Hat Trick of the Tournament – Myron Dmello of class 10B scored 3 out of the 5 goals that 10B beat 10A by.

On the other field the contest between 10C and 10D was closer. The first half was goalless and 10C had the larger share of ball possession. However it was 10D who scored two quick goals early in the second half. 10C tried but could only reduce that deficit by 1. The game ended at 2-1 in favour of 10D. (They are the defending champions after all !!)
